Our original Manta Muse Dani, who our founder created the Manta healthy hair brush for out of love

There’s no denying health is a top priority right now and many of us are living with high stress levels, and health and stress play a huge factor in hair loss. Its more common than you may think and whether it runs in your family, is stress related or a clue to more underlying issues it can be devastating to your self-confidence. Approximately 1 in 5 women aged over 25 experience hair loss or thinning. Two thirds of men will find themselves impacted by male pattern baldness – which, in the UK alone amounts to around 7.4 million men.

It’s pretty normal to lose between 50 to 100 hairs a day, but if its significantly more than this its best to speak to you GP to discuss and also look at using products and tools that are gentle on your hair and scalp.

There are many reasons for hair loss – genetics, an underactive thyroid, illness, treatments medications, hormone imbalance, stress and Alopecia. Increased stress in our daily lives, with over 50% of women will experience some type of hair loss at some point in their lives (which can lead to a perpetual cycle of stress leading to hair loss leading to stress over the hair loss). For so many it can affect our self-esteem and cause depression and anxiety.

We live in a society that associates luxurious hair with youth, beauty, wealth and good health. In fables we tell our children stories of beautiful princesses like Rapunzel with her magical hair and even Biblical texts (remember the story of Samson, a Herculean figure, tells Delilah he will lose his strength when he loses his hair). For men, hair represents virility and, like women, when they experience hair loss, a bald spot, or thinning hair it can really effect self-confidence and self-esteem. Hair is an important part of identity, it can be a way of expressing yourself through colour and styling and can even reflect the society we live in – throughout history in times of prosperity we see women cutting their hair short as a sign of freedom and wealth.

The MANTA Healthy Hair Brush was created because the founder’s wife Dani lost all her hair through cancer treatment. As it grew back, he watched her combing it with her fingers, too scared of breakage to use a traditional hairbrush. He wanted to give her confidence to style her hair, with something gentle and kind, a real self-care ritual in hair brushing like running your fingers through your hair which lead him to create the MANTA Healthy Hair Brush. Two years of research and development and patents across the globe we now have a brush to be very proud of

Care is in MANTA’s DNA, it was made for all hair types including fine, fragile, thick, curls, coils, children, men, and hair extension wearers basically anyone who wants healthy hair. The fact that it’s made from soft touch material, it moulds to your palm and the bristles have a 360 motion due to the FLEXGUARDTM technology means your hair will always win. It won’t catch or tare your hair and instead gently remove knots and actually minimises breakage.

In these unprecedented times it’s so important to care, care for your loved ones, your mind and your body. If you are worried, always speak to your GP first. We’ve added some options below of organisations and resources that will give you basic knowledge of where to start and find what’s right for you.
